In 2011, the Armenian-born designer Sophie, started her company as a passion project, following her love for art and design since she was five years old. Sophie would often be found painting her neighborhood flora as a child, the remnants of which still inspire her today. Sophie graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a degree in Economics & Political Science. Her move to New York City renewed her lost passion for art and design. Initially, her keen eye for classic architectural structures and Art Deco heavily influenced her jewelry design, which began at a Manhattan apartment in Midtown East. As she searched for her "design voice" she found that her voice was in striking the balance between the natural and modern.
Sophie’s passion for jewelry design culminated into her first collection, which launched at New York’s Henri Bendel. Sophie draws inspiration from her travel experiences, capturing timeless qualities into wearable art. Sophie was awarded with the Rising Star in Jewelry by Fashion Group International (FGI) DC in 2014.
Now based in Greater Washington DC, where she lives with her daughter Lumi, husband Dan, in Greater Washington DC.
“I know that jewelry is often said to be personal, but it’s so much more. It is an instant conversation starter, it breaks down walls, helps build connections and opens up hearts.
